Weird Story of the Famous Watchmaker

Article by Daniil

The talented watchmaker, Alain Silberstein was born in a small community to become a big person with a huge imagination. Both of his parents, Bobo and Babette, say that as a boy he has always been very creative. He has always had a passion for colors.

Some of the words that little Alain said when he learned to speak were “I want to be yellow and blue.” When he was a little boy Alain had to visit the hospital because he ate a box of crayons. The nurse who was on duty at that time mentioned that between stomach pumps the boy kept saying that he wanted to turn into a crayon.

When little Alain got better his mother Babette made him a Halloween costume, which was the his first. Besides the fact that the costume looked like a crayon the boy wanted to spice it up by drawing a mustache on his face. Since than the mustache has become one of the main features of his style.

At school the talented boy instantly joined the orchestra class. Being too frail to play on tuba he started playing on the triangle. Who would have known that the shape of his instrument would play an important role in his life.

An very important role in Alain’s file and in his vision of the world that surrounds him was played by his nanny Ima Pokinfun. This especially concerns his childhood and his teens. Nanny was the one to teach the boy about Salvador Dali. After she introduced the boy to the famous artist, she, by insensible degrees encouraged him to be quite bizarre.

At 16 Alain Silberstein had his own house, which was quite small but at least it was his own. The colors for the house he picked by himself, in addition he was the one to paint the house. Soon his friend became the next door neighbor, who was called Bonky.

At that time Alain started his first designing abilities. Due to the fact that his neighbor had a part time job as a clown Alain made a costume for him which served as a gift. Because Bonky highly appreciated Alain’s work he helped him to find a job at the push pin plant. Quite quickly he was promoted to pin designer.

When his best friend got arrested, Alain was about to lose his ming, which is why he bought a car, painted it by taste and began his trip across the country. It took months of traveling before he could settle down in a rather small town in Denmark. There he received a part time job at Lego, when worked as a designer.

His first success came after he made a design for a calculator company. That is when he started his way to becoming one of the world’ most known industrial designers.

No one knows why, but suddenly Alain got interested in watches. It was more than passion – it was an incurable disease which lead his to becoming a watchmaker. Now he is one of the famous Swiss watchmakers and his timepieces are more than just fashionable, but the fact is that only wealthy people (who probably are Salvador Dali’s fans) can afford buying them.
